Exactly One Year Later – Blake Griffin is back

Exactly one year ago, NBA fans were eagerly awaiting the regular season debut of the 2009 No. 1 overall draft pick of the Los Angeles Clippers, Blake Griffin. It was the team’s final preseason game and Griffin had looked great during the preseason, averaging 13.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Then disaster struck.

On what appeared to have been a routine dunk, when Griffin landed, he broke his kneecap. This injury sidelined him for the entire 2009-10 season and set-back the start to what appeared to be a star-studded career for Griffin.

Fast forward to yesterday, one-year after the injury, surgery, and rehab – Blake was back. The anticipation of making his regular season debut must have been building up, as Griffin exploded for 20 points and 14 rebounds in the game.

The Hype is Building

With the hype building around the potential of Griffin, and his ability to show that he has came back stronger and very determined, a lot of cards have seen an exponential increase in price. Griffin has the greatest room for growth out of the star-packed 2009-10 rookie class, added to playing for a large media market in Los Angeles makes for a very potent formula to ensure a great return on investment for people looking to flip his cards.

Here is a small glimpse at some of Griffin’s best rookie cards from last year:
