2010 Topps Chrome Baseball has been on the streets for about two full weeks now. Without a doubt, the biggest buzz around this product has been the Stephen Strasburg Chrome Autographs that were inserted in the product. Even after Strasburg’s season was cut short due to his injury, his secondary market prices have not bottomed out, completely.
I have compiled some data from eBay on the sales of all of the 2010 Topps Chrome Stephen Strasburg Autographs to date. Check out the table to see some very interesting data:
There has been 12 more sales of the Refractor version of the Chrome Autograph, for a card that is numbered to 499 verse a card that is unnumbered and has better odds of pulling, this is a bit of a head scratcher why there hasn’t been more base chrome auto pop-up for sale.
To date, there has been 78 successful sales on eBay regarding any variation of a 2010 Topps Chrome Strasburg Auto, collectively selling for a grand total of $14,958.16, or an average of $191.77 per card.

On the heels of announcing that Topps had signed an exclusive agreement with 2010 Number 1 Draft Pick, Bryce Harper, Topps announced today their plans for including Harper in some of their upcoming products.
2011 Bowman
Harper will make his first appearance as a Washington National in 2011 Bowman. In addition, Harper will sign autographs for this release.
2010 Bowman Chrome
Harper will be added to the recently-announced Autographed 2010 Bowman Chrome USA BUYBACK program. Cards will be sequentially numbered with foil stamping to 100 and will also include James Taillon, Yasmani Grandal, Drew Pomeranz, Michael Choice, Christian Colon, Manny Machado and Bryce Brentz. These on-card autographs will be available via redemption.
2010 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects
Harper’s 2009 AFLAC Autographed cards will be inserted into packs of 2010 Bowman DP&P. Each of Harper’s on-card autographs from the 2009 AFLAC All-American Game will be sequentially numbered with foil stamping.

Included as an extra incentive to bust the 2010 Topps Chrome Football product, Topps had inserted a Topps Chrome Reprint Rookie Autograph into their product. Each card is a reprint of their original Topps or Topps Chrome rookie and features their refractor technology. Each card is numbered to 10 and features a autograph on the card.
Here are some of the top sellers from the set so far:
After 2010 Topps Chrome Baseball left a sour taste in a number of collectors mouths, most of them tip-towed into their 2010 football counterpart. Topps decided to merge two products into their 2010 Topps Chrome release by adding a special Bowman Chrome subset to the product. These include base cards, refractors, autos, and refractor autos from some of this years top rookies. The baseball set featured a number of quality control issues – and from all early indication – those are not present with football product.
Here is a break down of some early sales on eBay of 2010 Topps Chrome Football items:
Clearly, the Rookie Reprint Auto’s have been a huge addition to the set and have been selling really well on the secondary market. Sam Bradford’s on field performances have helped the value of his cards steadily rise and slowly emerged as one of the better selling rookies from the class.
Early reports from case breaks have been indicating that the rookie patch autos are not inserted one per case like they have been in previous releases.
The holy grail of Tim Tebow cards has made it’s way onto eBay. His 2010 Topps Chrome Superfractor Auto is currently up at a 10-day auction, ending on 10/24. While Tebow has not been anywhere close to one of the top rookies of the 2010 NFL season, his card prices have held steadily through the first 5 weeks of the season, and he has seemed to maintain his cult following of fan from his college days.
Famed multi-case breaker Brent Williams, or better known as brentandbecca is hosting an unprecedented group-break over at the Freedom Card Board Forums. He has put together a 35-case group-break of 2010 Bowman Chrome Baseball that he is going be streaming live via uStream. There will be 225 slots available in this break with a single slot pricing of $130 and pricing breaks available for multiple slot purchases.
For more information about the group-break, or to join, be sure to visit Freedom Card Board.
Topps has been keeping Stephen Strasburg busy.
Topps recently sent out a bunch of redemption only Strasburg autographed cards, and they are slowly finding their way to the secondary market. Most notably are the 2010 Topps Tribute cards, which feature Strasburg’s auto along with relic’s from his first MLB game. These seem to come in single and dual relive forms. With variations of numbered to both 99 and 75.
Along with the Tribute autos, Strasburg was the cornerstone of the Topps Million Card Giveaway promotion. Collectors who were lucky enough to redeem a Strasburg were given the opportunity to have their cards autographed prior to receiving them. It was reported that there are only 299 of these autographs issued.
On the heels of the 2010 NFL season, Topps is set to release their first football product for the year. Designed much like it’s baseball counterpart, the 2010 Topps Football product will be sharing much more the design characteristics.
The Topps Million Card Giveaway has been such a success, that Topps has also included the Gridiron Giveaway in their products this year. Packs will randomly contains a code card (1 per pack in Jumbo, 1:6 in Hobby) that can be redeemed online for original vintage Topps Football cards and other prizes including signed memorabilia from the fabled Topps archives.

With 1 autograph or relic card per Hobby box, and 2 autographed and 1 relic card per Jumbo box, consumers have some outstanding odds at finding some great cards packed away in their boxes. The most sought after of these each year is the Rookie Premiere Autographs. The Rookie Premiere Autographs appear in single, dual, and quad autographs. This year Topps has introduced on-card serial numbers, in hopes of alleviating the counterfeit issues that have plagued the product in the past. Several have already shown up on eBay for Sam Bradford, Jahvid Best, Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, and many others.
Once we receive the entire Rookie Premiere Auto checklist, it will be posted on the web site.

Much like the hype surrounding Stephen Strasburg in baseball, football has their own golden child for 2010. Tim Tebow has been one of those publicized players throughout most of his collegiate career and that has not changed since being drafted. Tebow appears to have SP card as well as a few autographed cards available in the set. Tebow is also featured on a dual autograph with former Bronco great John Elway.
Once we receive the entire SP checklist, it will be posted on the web site.
An exclusive 2010 Topps football break will be posted later this week.
